We are an indigenous social enterprise in Uganda. We manufacture and distribute high quality and affordable reusable sanitary pads. The pads are affordable, good quality and can last for years. Malaika reusable pads are rewashable making them a more reliable and ecological alternative. We work with vulnerable women within the community to give them an opportunity to earn a decent income.

We use a specially designed PUL waterproof fabric to ensure that our pads can capably hold your flow and never leak. Cloth pads also don’t smell. The smell associated with your period is because of the chemical reaction between the blood and the chlorine, bleach, dioxins etc. that are found in disposable pads.

Lack of sanitary pads forces some girls into transactional sex or the use of unhygienic materials, which can lead to infections, prolonged absenteeism, and eventual dropout from school. For girls with disabilities, the challenges are double because of the stigma that comes with both disability and menstruation. Moreover, the environmental impact of disposable pads further burdens rural communities, contaminating soil and water resources over time
